WALKING SAFARIS
SAFARI ON FOOT?
A walking safari is definitely one of the best ways to see and appreciate the magnitude of the Serengeti & Ngorongoro eco-systems. Wild Frontiers have some fantastic walking safaris in their portfolio of trips in Tanzania. Tanzania National Parks have opened up some great wilderness areas for walking safaris, and we are privileged to actually walk INSIDE the Serengeti. Our safaris combine a few days on foot (with a light mobile camp and support crew), as well as some vehicle based game viewing, and of course we visit Ngorongoro and Manyara or Tarangire parks en route.
In the Ngorongoro Conservation Area there are a number of walking trails in both the highlands and the grasslands bordering the Serengeti, which have been designed to combine great scenery, game viewing on foot and interaction with the local Maasai. These hikes are generally 3–4 days long and are fully backed up by our support crew or Maasai with their donkeys! All trips are accompanied by armed rangers and our guides.
Our other trips include hiking Ol Doinyo Lengai, an active volcano in Tanzania, and its surrounding highlands, and walking safaris supported by camels through the rich wildlife area of Laikipia, Kenya.
