Introduction

The Kilimanjaro Premium Lager was the brainchild of our Director John Addison back in the early 2000s and had its first edition in 2003. Since then the event has grown year on year, to now being recognized as one of the top 5 sporting events in the Tanzanian calendar with over 10 000 people attending in 2020, as well as thousands more visiting the areas of Moshi and Arusha on race weekend.

The race has become one of the must-do events on the African racing calendar because of its challenging route, spectacular views of Kilimanjaro and the electric atmosphere that engulfs the area.

The marathon will be cantering into its 20th year in 2022 and promises to be one of the year’s top events for runners of any level.

As the official organizers of the marathon, Wild Frontiers is able to offer the best travel packages to the area over race weekend. We also specialize in creating add-on experiences to enhance your time in Tanzania. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the announcement of our next race!

Race Distances

The Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon offers three distances to eager runners looking to run in the shadow of Africa’s Highest Peak. These are:

  2. The Tigo Half Marathon (21.1km)
  3. The Grand Malt Fun Run (5km)

This AIMS registered race has been set up to promote the sport in Tanzania, and has the official backing of the Tanzania Tourist Board, the Tanzania Amateur Athletics Association and the IAAF.
