Day 1- 4: Serengeti Wilderness Camp, Seronera
Flight from Kilimanjaro Airport to Seronera airstrip. Your Wild Frontiers guide will meet you and transfer you by vehicle to Serengeti Wilderness Camp.
The Seronera region, in the central Serengeti, is set directly on the Great Migration route, and offers excellent viewing of this incredible annual phenomenon, when countless wildebeest flood across the plains. While migratory game populations fluctuate seasonally, Seronera is still a wildlife hotspot at other times of the year, sheltering the Big Five, among many other species.
Explore the Serengeti eco-system in our specially customised extended land cruisers with ample leg room and enlarged windows. Our game viewing hatches offer 360 degree views, allowing ease of photography.

Seronera’s network of river valleys ensure year-round water supplies and support an incredibly rich wildlife population throughout the year with plenty of resident game: big cats, elephant and buffalo herds. It is here that Serengeti Wilderness Camp nestles, right in the path of the wildebeest migration at certain times of the year. With just twelve tents, it offers an intimate safari experience without compromising on comfort, in traditional ‘under canvas’ accommodation.
It’s a truly eco-friendly camp set up with due respect for this fragile eco system, complete with en-suite flush toilets, bucket showers and solar lighting. Every tent boasts a shady veranda, where guests can relax and soak up their surroundings, enjoying the birdlife and game passing through the camp. The central dining area, casual lounge and well stocked bar are a great spot to relax and swop safari stories with fellow guests, with the cosy campfire a firm favourite for sundowners and snacks.
Enjoy superb food, a casual atmosphere and great Tanzanian hospitality in one of the most beautiful places on earth. You can’t get much closer to nature than this.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, Ngorongoro Crater
Early morning departure to the world famous Ngorongoro Crater. At 2,286 metres above sea level, it is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. Surrounded by very steep walls rising 610 metres from the crater floor, this natural amphitheatre measures 19.2 kilometres in diameter and 304²km in area. We can almost guarantee you four of the Big Five will show up, as well as a rich variety of birds, all viewed against the backdrop of the thickly forested crater walls. Varied terrains and dramatic landscapes consisting of forest, grasslands and both freshwater and soda lakes make the Ngorongoro Crater a true marvel of creation. It is home to up to 30,000 animals, almost half of which are wildebeest and zebra.
Your picnic lunch on the crater floor will forever remain a unique memory.
Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge
The unique Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge clings to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, the largest and most perfect volcanic crater on Earth. Long and low, the lodge is built from local river stone and camouflaged with indigenous vines. Designed to blend completely into the landscape, it is entirely invisible from the floor of the crater 600 metres below.
Hugging the contours of the jagged crater rim, the lodge takes its inspiration from the so-called “Cradle of Mankind”, the prehistoric site of Olduvai Gorge, which lies close by. Linked by arched stone passages and timbered decks, its walls are decorated with stylised prehistoric cave paintings and lit by flaring torches. At the stone heart of the lodge burns a glowing fire, which is kept constantly alight. Decorated with cave paintings, the rooms are strung around the crater rim. Each has its own rock-enclosed balcony, and all enjoy completely uninterrupted views of the volcanic amphitheatre far below.
Day 6: End of Itinerary
Transfer from Ngorongoro Serena Lodge to Kilimanjaro Airport.
