There are a lot of opinions, and good advice ‘out there’ as to the best way to prepare for an ascent of Kilimanjaro.
Obviously, it’s a strenuous hike – over 6-7 days – generally walking around 20km per day, with the added issue of altitude as you go further into your hike. So be prepared. If you don’t take this seriously, you will probably not have a good experience… so train properly, do your research and arrive both mentally and physically prepared.
As well as fitness training, packing is another crucial element to this challenge. The correct gear is a must – don’t skimp on quality (borrow, but don’t skimp)- and refer to our full packing list, to ensure that you are fully prepared for all eventualities.
On a mountain, ‘weather’ can change rapidly – from a beautiful sunny morning to an afternoon blizzard… be prepared, and this won’t be a problem!
At Wild Frontiers we have comprehensive lists for equipment to take, items you can hire (from us), medical and personal kit, and training programmes.
