Ham Juuko
Senior Guide
Born and raised in Western Uganda, Ham is a country boy who helped raise cattle on the family farm. He loves watching football, reading and spending time with family (he has 2 kids) when not on the road.
Ham started guiding in 1999 and joined Wild Frontiers in 2006 as a senior guide. With his passionate interest in wildlife and genuine care for his clients, Ham is an excellent all round guide and is often chosen as the lead guide for our larger safari groups.
Certifications: Advanced professional guiding from Uganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA), Wilderness Medical Associates First Aid, 4×4 driving, bird guiding.
Jean-Paul Mirenge Remezo - JP
Senior Guide
Jean-Paul grew up in the area around Kisoro but now lives in Entebbe with his wife and two young children.
He joined Wild Frontiers in 2007 with five years’ guiding experience already under his belt. He speaks English, Swahili and French, making him a truly versatile guide. His hobbies include participating in and watching sports, especially football, and listening to music.
Certifications: Professional guiding – USAGA, Wilderness Medical Associates First Aid, numerous 4X4 driving certificates (defensive, high range and self-recovery).
Mustafah Kiika - Steffie
Senior Guide
Steffie, as he is fondly known, grew up in Kampala where he studied Mechanical Engineering after school. He has a family with two children.
He has a quiet personality, but his good sense of humour, excellent manner in relating to people and ability to offer interesting information on almost any area or aspect of Uganda always wins through – making him a beloved guide and valuable team member.
Steffie has travelled the country extensively. He’s worked as a logistics officer taking care of overseas volunteers for the British based organization Frontiers, as a mechanic and driver for the Wildlife Education Centre and as camp coordinator for Elephants Crop And People project (ECP) in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Steffie joined us in 1998 and is one of our longest serving guides and staff members. He takes great pride in his work and the vehicles he drives are always immaculately turned out.
Certifications: Professional guiding – USAGA, Wilderness Medical Associates First Aid certificate, 4X4 driving (high range and self-recovery).
Moses Makinawa
Senior Guide
Moses was born in Kalagala-Lyantonde district located at the border of Ankole and Buganda Kingdom in central Uganda. His tertiary education afforded him a diploma in electronic engineering.
He is married with two children, and his hobbies include participating in and watching sports, especially football. He is also a keen birder!
In 2004 Moses decided to shift careers, and after completing a series of guiding courses he worked on a freelance basis for a number of Tour Companies in Kampala, where he gained valuable experience.
Moses joined Wild Frontiers in 2012 and is an integral member of our safari guides team.
Certifications: Professional Guiding – USAGA, Wilderness Medical Associates First Aid, On Course 4×4 driving (high/low range and defensive).
David Acaye
Guide
David was born in Awach in Northern Uganda. After school he studied computers and motor vehicle technology.
In 2009 he joined Wild Frontiers as a river guide based at Murchison Falls on the river Nile. He developed a keen interest in fishing, and was promoted to Boat Captain. David obtained his certification in Power Boat Operating and Handling from the Royal Yachting Association in Mombasa, Kenya in 2012.
With some years of experience on the river, David was offered a position as a Trainee Safari Guide allowing him to broaden his guiding experience. He is currently based up country near the Bwindi area and hosts many of our clients flying into this area for gorilla trekking. On occasion he assists us up in Murchison Falls National Park guiding our fishing safaris.
David is a very personable guide, and with his love of relating stories his grandfather told about Uganda’s traditions combined with his sense of humour he is a firm favourite with repeat guests.
Even when David is not working he can still be found practicing his fishing skills or reading up on his wildlife knowledge, both hobbies he finds relaxing and enjoyable.

Martin Okot
Senior Guide Birding Specialist
Martin is from the Acholi tribe, from the far North of Uganda, although he grew up locally in Entebbe. He studied Zoology at university, and is a devoted family man with three children.
His loves listening to music and watching rugby.
He started his career as a Zoo Keeper at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre before moving to a tour company where he gained wide experience and undertook several specialist guiding courses including birding – a keen interest of his.
Martin joined us as a senior guide in 2006. He offers guests the benefit of his general wildlife knowledge as well as specialist birding experience to ensure he operates a first class safari.
Certifications: Professional guiding – UGASA, First Aid courses, additional birding courses and 4×4 driving (high/low range and defensive).
Sulaiman Iga - Sula
Senior Guide
Sula hails from the Mweya region of Queen Elizabeth National Park. He grew up in the bush and developed a passion for nature and wildlife from an early age. Sula comes from the Muganda and Mutoro tribes, both rich in culture, making him highly knowledgeable in local sites and traditions.
He completed a diploma in Tourism, Wildlife and Hotel Management and spent many years, both during his schooling and after, working with environmental and wildlife research teams in Uganda’s main national parks: Queen Elizabeth, Lake Mburo and Murchison Falls National Park. He also worked with community and heath focused NGOs as a driver in the field, helping to set up the stations and communicating with the locals.
Sula has an incredible amount of practical knowledge gained from years of hands on experience. He began guiding in the early 2000s and his depth of knowledge and skill is apparent from the moment you meet him.
In his free time he loves brushing up on his nature and wildlife knowledge through self-study, but also enjoys a good game of pool! He has a very easy going nature and positive attitude, and always has a smile ready – making him very pleasant company. As he says – “life is good!”
Echilus Baijuka - Echy
Guide
Echy was born in the district of Kibale and hails from the Munyoro tribe.
Echy joined the Wild Frontiers team at Murchison Falls in 2008 as a trainee skipper-guide, fresh from finishing school. Under the mentorship of the Boats Manager there, Echy trained to become a fishing and river guide. Over the years, as he learnt about the park and its varied flora and fauna, he was promoted to a full skipper and lead boat guide. In 2013 he achieved the world record for the Nile Perch he landed at 113kg!
With his experience and knowledge of the park, positive attitude and easy nature, Echy is popular with our guests and is often requested for by our repeat clients. In 2017 he was moved to Southwestern Uganda, where he now guides fly-in clients to both Ishasha (in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park) and Buhoma Lodge in Bwindi Forest.
In his free time Echy enjoys sport fishing and bird watching, but also watching a good football match with friends!
Certifications: Level II Professional guiding – UGASA, boat handling & operations, first aid training by The Uganda Red Cross Society and by Wilderness First Aid in Tanzania.
Edward Ekisa - Eddie
Senior Guide
Eddie, born and raised in Entebbe, went on to study Information Technology in Kamapala. He graduated in IT and Software engineering in 2003.
His interest in tourism came from his years working for the Jane Goodall Institute, as part of the chimp rescue team. Eddie initially joined as an IT technician, maintaining hardware and software for JGI. He then got involved in photography and videography for the team’s rescue missions. With the JGI team he often visited Budongo Forest in Murchison Falls National Park, as well as Kibale Forest to rescue chimps trapped in snares. These years with JGI sparked his passion for wildlife and conservation.
In 2008 he opened a safari tour company with a close friend, escorting clients on safaris throughout Uganda. Eddie has been part of our team since 2013. We just love how he truly enjoys imparting his knowledge of the country and its wildlife with clients.
In his free time, sporty Eddie is very active and often goes swimming, biking or training at the gym. He speaks English and Swahili.
Joseph Mutebi
Senior Birding Specialist Guide
Joseph in the youngest child of a large family – he has ten siblings! He studied a Diploma in Tourism & Conservation, and is married with two daughters.
He is a member of the Mustard seeds babies’ home where he helps them by donating his time to spend with the children and assist escorting them on excursions. He loves spending time with his family, watching sports, fishing and birding. Even when off duty he can often be found with a bird book and binoculars at hand.
Joseph started his guiding career working with one of his brothers in the safari industry but decided to branch out and joined Wild Frontiers in 2009 as a safari guide specialising in birding. Joseph’s speaks English, Swahili and a little Spanish which makes him a well-rounded and popular choice of guide on our safaris.
Certifications: Level II Professional guiding – UGASA, walking safaris (dangerous game on foot), 4×4 driving.
Ellis Walinah
Guide
Ellis studied Business Administration at university, but his adventurous spirit and love for tourism was just too strong to keep him in an office job! His interest in cultural excursions was born from time spent as a young boy assisting his Dad with cutting and building tourism trails in the Rwewnzori Mountain area. After studying, he joined a local tourism project in Rwenzori Mountains National Park doing Village tours, birding and nature walks for visitors.
He joined Wild Frontiers in 2014, initially as a trainee, but his keen interest in guiding on the river as well as safaris in the park was noted and he quickly became a seasoned guide for both.
When he has a free moment he likes to read and go bird watching. Ellis loves to meet people and speaks a host of languages including English, Lukhonzo, Luganda, Rutooro, Runyankole and Rukiga.
Certifications: Safari guiding, River Boat cruising and Rescue, First Aid.
