The History
I grew up in England – and as a child our holidays were often around Europe, I guess offering me a taste in ‘exploring’. Arriving in SA at 21 years old, a whole new continent opened up for me… and without understanding or even realising why, I fell in love with the African bush. After ten years in the advertising industry, I went on sabbatical to Botswana and Zimbabwe, meeting John – husband and business partner. Together we started Wild Frontiers – with a combined mission, and passion, of finding new and intriguing places to visit, preferably off the beaten track. In 1991 we ventured north, in our trusty old cruiser ‘Betsy’, and discovered areas that we have since started our own operations in – all well and truly north of the Limpopo.
My Footprints
In Africa …… Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Zaire (DRC) & Kenya – plus Libya & Egypt. There’s lots more to see though!
Rest of the world… lots of countries in Europe, Canada, USA, Australia, China, Dubai.
Most Memorable Holiday
Too many good memories to pick just one… but certainly being in the Serengeti with my family and close friends is ‘up there’. The Solar Eclipse in Libya… wow!
Walking in the Ngorongoro highlands and climbing active volcanoes (Nyiragonga, just before lock-down), horse-back safaris around Kili and in Zim… and reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro… as said, too many great trips.
My Travel Wishlist
Arctic – dog-sledding….
Antarctic – to see the ice-bergs and pristine wilderness
South America – the whole continent! It looks amazing..
The Luxury Travel Item
A decent lens (or two) for my camera…..

The History
I want to experience life first hand, I don’t want to view it on the pages of a magazine or the screen of my flatscreen TV. People fascinate me, immersing myself in scenic splendour revives me and experiencing new things make my pulse beat. Travel humbles me, challenges me and reminds me to live in the moment. It forces me to reflect on myself, to accept that things do not always go as planned and to appreciate what I have back home. I never return home from a trip without being touched, stretched and changed by my encounters. It’s not so much about the destination as it is about my personal journey – especially when I travel alone. I travel because I have to travel – it is what brings me to life.
My Footprints
Africa and Asia are my travel loves – nature invigorates my soul, it’s my reboot button when life gets hectic. Give me the outdoors over the big city lights anyday! I’ve explored Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, UK, Ireland, Mauritius, Maldives, Dubai, Bali, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Greece. Next on the list – definitely Peru and the Inca Trail!
Most Memorable Holiday
A combo trip visiting Uganda and Rwanda. These countries really blew me away! Spotting the elusive Shoebill Stork on the Nile River, to swimming in a crater Lake, viewing lazy tree climbing lions, trekking chimps, and enjoying bush sundowners and bush breakfasts, this trip was filled with magical experiences. The rare privilege to come face to face with endangered mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is something words will never capture : surreal, humbling, incredible!
My Travel Wishlist
Machu Picchu, Croatia Island hopping, Kilimanjaro, Camino de Santiago
Never Travel Without…
A band aid and a sense of wonder
The Luxury Travel Item
My Kindel for those long airport transits

Sleeping in whilst travelling is never acceptable! It’s such a privilege to explore this incredible planet so soak up every moment. Whether it’s watching the sun rise over the Taj Mahal or the sunset over the Grand Canyon, slow down your thoughts and meditate on the blessing of being alive – then be sure to cram as much as you can see, taste and do in between every sunrise and sunset.
