The start of a new year nearly always arrives with some excess baggage – evidence of an abundance of good times and great food over the festive season.
What better way to shed the load, than by getting ready for the 14th annual Kilimanjaro Marathon, a race that in 2016 attracted over 8,500 runners from across the globe.
Whether it’s the full marathon, half marathon, or 5 km fun run, the setting on the foothills of Africa’s highest free standing mountain and the fun, vibey atmosphere make this one race you don’t want to miss.
With a route that winds through spectator lined streets and scenic coffee plantations, turning onto a gradual but rather challenging lengthy 10 km incline towards the Mweka gates of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the race is registered with AIMS and IAAF and is a Comrades qualifying marathon.
Of course visiting Tanzania without extending your stay would be like eating a donut with no frosting. From the Serengeti, where calving season brings plenty of predator action, to the majestic plains of Ngorongoro, we have some great safari options for you to choose from. How about a walking safari inside the Serengeti/Ngorongoro conservation areas? Or, climb Kilimanjaro a bucket list trip for many travellers. Zanzibar also beckons those weary legs… relax on the beach and lap up some sun!
So lace up your running shoes and see you at the start!
